About us

Missy's passion for teaching children began with her first job in High School as a day camp art director in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Missy attended college at Miami University in Ohio, receiving a BFA in Graphic Design and a BFA in Photography. After working as a graphic designer in Nashville's vibrant music scene for ten years and having children, she returned to school to pursue her Master of Arts in Elementary Education. For the last twelve years, she's thrived as an elementary school teacher in Tennessee and Florida, enriching young minds in public and private school settings.

Currently, Missy leverages her experience as a curriculum development and implementation consultant for Ohana Solutions. Here, she cultivates engaging, problem-based learning materials and provides professional development opportunities to support educators in fostering a love of learning and exploration in their students. Missy also continues utilizing her graphic design degree as a freelance designer.

Missy's passion lies in metacognition. She enjoys helping teachers recognize individual student needs and helping students determine how they best learn, communicate, and process emotions – empowering them to become self-aware, confident, lifelong learners and members of their communities. Missy also enjoys volunteering for a non-profit, educational organization in Nicaragua where she provides professional development for their teachers and learning opportunities for their students. When she's not championing education, you'll find her and her husband cheering on their children, both proud Gators at the University of Florida; taking long walks with their dog; and chasing the sunset on the beach.
